Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@niro.ai and we will explain it.

Who we are

Niro Intelligence Ltd. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17193482. Our registered office is 58 West Towers, Pinner, England, HA5 1UA.

Niro is a code intelligence platform. It reads your code repositories, builds a map of how your code fits together, and answers questions about it.

Two different roles

This matters, so it is worth two sentences.

For your code, we work for you. When we process the repositories you connect, we only do what you tell us to do. In legal terms you are the "controller" and we are the "processor". The rules for this are in our Data Processing Agreement, not on this page.

For our own records, we decide. Your account details, our emails to you, and our billing records are ours to manage. That is what this page covers.

What we collect, and why

What Why we need it Our legal reason
Your name, email address and password To create your account and let you sign in To provide the service you asked for
Your company name and billing details To invoice you and take payment To provide the service you asked for
Emails and messages between us To answer your questions and support you To provide the service you asked for
How you use the product, such as which features you click To see what works and improve it Your consent, given through our cookie banner
Basic security logs, such as sign-in times To keep accounts safe and spot problems Our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure

We do not sell your personal data. We never have and we do not plan to.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are needed to make the site work, for example to keep you signed in. These are always on, because the site does not work without them.

We also use cookies to understand how people use the product. These only load if you agree. You choose when the cookie banner appears, and you can change your mind at any time.

Our product analytics run on our own servers. We do not send this data to Google Analytics or any other outside analytics company.

Who else sees your data

We use a small number of trusted suppliers to run Niro. Each one is listed, with what it does and where it is based, on our Sub-processors page.

We only share what a supplier needs to do its job. We do not share your personal data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Where your data is held

Our main systems run in Ireland, inside the European Economic Area.

We are a UK company, so our team in the UK administers those systems. The UK is outside the EEA, but the European Commission has decided that UK law protects data properly, so this transfer is allowed.

Two of our AI suppliers are based in the United States. Where we send data to them, we put the standard legal protections in place first. There is more detail on our Sub-processors page.

How long we keep things

What How long
Your code and anything built from it Until you disconnect the repository or close your account
Your account details 90 days after you close your account
Product usage data 90 days
Error reports and log lines you send us For as long as you are a customer
Invoices and accounting records 6 years, because tax law requires it

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:

Email privacy@niro.ai. We will reply within one month. These rights are free to use.

If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU, you can complain to your own national data protection authority.

Keeping data safe

We encrypt your data when it travels and when it is stored. Access inside Niro is limited to the people who need it. We log who does what.

We are honest about what we do not have yet: we do not offer multi-factor authentication on the Niro platform at the moment, and we are building it. We do not yet hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, and we are working towards both.

Children

Niro is a tool for software teams. It is not for children, and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 16.

Changes to this page

If we change anything important, we will email account holders and update the date at the top.
